Here's Some Help With Terminology

Adaptive rowing, being a subject area that most people are not particularly farmiliar with, has some lingo that many readers may not understand. I have listed a few accronyms and terms that I use frequently that may not have obvious meaning.

LTA – Legs-Trunk-Arms. This is a class of adaptive rowing that includes any para-rower who can use use a sliding seat. Often included in this group are people with intellectual challenges, blindness, or single side amputations.

TA – Trunk-Arms. This class of adaptive rowers use a fixed (non-sliding) seat, and row with just their upperbody.

AS – Arms-Shoulders. Rowers in this class also use a fixed seat, but only row using their arms.

CRI – Community Rowing Inc. A rowing club in Newton, MA that I am volunteering at. CRI has one of the best adaptive programs in the country.
